2003 SOLOMERLOT MONFERRATO ROSSO DOC



Type of wine: Red wine.
Position of the vineyards: In the Commune of Cassine (Alessandria province). Altitude: 200 mt a.s.l., south facing exposure.
Grape variety: Merlot 100% .
Vinification: A traditional vinification and maceration with regular pumpings over. Maceration lasts about 10 days followed by malolactic fermentation in the tank
To be drunk with: Ideal with any pasta dish, surprising with rabbit and lamb.

TECHNICAL DATA FOR THE 2003 VINTAGE:
Alcohol: 14,50 % alc./vol.
Total acidity: 6 g/l in tartaric acid.
Ageing: 18 months in French barriques followed by 12 months in the bottle.
Estimated life: Up to 15 years.
Tasting notes:
  • Colour: Deep ruby red with violet hues.
  • Bouquet: an explosion of rich, intense and concentrated flavours with distinctive plum, spice and cherry aromas; also present some mineral chalk notes which are typical from the vineyard site.
  • Taste: Mouthfilling, full and dense character, well rounded with a good balanced acidity, finishing with delicate sweet tannins. Aftertaste is long and harmonic.
