2003 DOC LANGHE ROSSO VIRTUS



Type of wine: Red wine.
Position of the vineyards: In the Commune of Barbaresco by the site where the remains of the Roman Emperor Publio Elvio Pertinace were found.
Grape variety: Barbera 60% and Cabernet Sauvignon 40%.
Vinification: Vinifiction on skins, traditional, with 10 days maceration and complete malolactic fermentation after the alcoholic one is carried out.
To be drunk with: Thanks to its good structure and acidity (from Barbera grapes), it matches very well not only with red meats and medium aged cheeses, but also with rich pasta dishes.

TECHNICAL DATA FOR THE 2003 VINTAGE:
Alcohol: 14,5% alc./vol.
Total acidity: 6,00 g/l in tartaric acid.
Residual sugar: dry.
Ageing: In barrique for 18 months followed by a maturation in bottle for at least 10 months.
Estimated life: Fifteen/twenty years.
Tasting notes:
  • Colour: Ruby red with violet hues.
  • Bouquet: Intense, persistent, with delicate boisé: notes of ripened fruits, chocolate and chalk
  • Taste: Full, delicate and harmonic, the flavour sensations correspond with the characteristics offered on the nose, leaving a rounded and complete finish on the palate.
