2005 BARBERA D'ASTI DOC



Type of wine: Red wine.
Position of the vineyards: In the Commune of Cassine (Alessandria province). Exposure: South, 240 m.
Grape variety: Barbera d'Asti 100% .
Vinification: A traditional vinification. Temperature controlled maceration with regular pumpings over. Skin contact lasts around 10 days   aiming to achieve an optimum extraction of colour, flavours and tannins. Subsequent malolactic fermentation in stainless still tanks.
To be drunk with: Ideal with local salumi and tajarin and other kinds of pasta. Perfect also with fresh cheeses.

TECHNICAL DATA FOR THE 2005 VINTAGE:
Alcohol: 13,50% alc./vol.
Total acidity: 5,80 g/l in tartaric acid

Ageing:

In wood for 6 months, partially aged in barrique (French Allier) of second/third “fill” and the remainder in Slavonian oak casks.
Residual sugar: 1 gr/l.
Estimated life: Up to 7-8 years.
Tasting notes:

•  Colour: ruby red with intense violet hues.

•  Bouquet: strong and rich typical aromas of rose, red berry fruits and ripe cherry.

•  Taste: a mouthfilling elegant character with excellent balance.
